  • No—here’s why: As a best practice, and to ensure a high-quality manuscript, you should hire separate editors for developmental editing and copyediting (and/or line editing, though some copyeditors do line edits as well with a heavy copyedit). 

    This is also how it’s done in the university press and trade publishing industries, where the philosophy is, the more eyes on a book there are, the better the book will be. Having one person perform multiple editing jobs means that more errors will remain in your finished book or proposal.
